The Hidden hazards to our health

Updated: Oct 13, 2023

Health and Wellbeing | Environmental Toxins | The Problem

The world around us is constantly changing. These changes bring a continual challenge and threats to our health. The list of things that can disrupt our health continues to evolve but the hazards are often invisible; air pollution, soil quality, farming practices, climate change, our exposure to plastics, chemicals or radiation, our reliance on technology, viruses, the list goes on.

The problem is that these risks to health go unnoticed and you may not even know they are having an effect until you start getting symptoms or your health declines. Growing, reliable data is emerging on the effect of environmental toxins and the link with chronic disease. Conditions like IBS, chronic lung disease, arthritis, depression, neurodegenerative disorders, diabetes for example don’t just happen over night. It takes months, sometimes years of increasing dysfunction in the body’s biological systems for these conditions to develop.

The problem with the exposure to so many different toxins in the environment is that when they enter our body, it is hard for our body’s to get rid of them. Therefore, when we aren’t detoxifying properly, these chemicals etc can build up in our system and contribute to chronic disease, infertility and a general feeling of ill health. There are critical times in life such as pregnancy, breast-feeding or menopause where we NEED to be really conscious of how to reduce our expose to harmful toxins.

Doctors are continually doing their best to help patients grapple with the increasing levels of illness. Yet it seems that they don’t have the resources and tools to deal with the increasing symptoms being presented to them, especially when they are being presented with vague, medically unexplained or non-emergency symptoms such as head aches, bloating, pain or fatigue.

Even if you have a healthy diet, you may not be aware of the other factors that could be contributing to a less than ideal healthy state.
